Great fish! Especially for this time of year.

In my opinion they are good on the chew at that size!

i think gracies concern was the fact anyone would be fishing that spot in that swell and id have to agree, its a dangerous spot for the experienced let alone somebody new to the area if that was the case and definitely not a place to be in a swell like that but each to their own

good fish nonetheless wink.gif

ps your caps lock is on

Yeah good fish you have been hookn, just be carefull if you are getting wet its not safe . I havent been on a good rock kill for a while but grew up fishing the cape and have seen good days turn bad in that area.

I'm with Davo and Gracie, I know if I was to get wet once I'd be gone biggrin.gif

Fished the Steps probably a thousand times and if the rocks at the tops where you fish (with rod holder in) are getting wet from the swell would probably not even go down.

But then again I am sure we have all done crazy unsure.gif things in the chase for the big one over the years

absolutly agree with u guys the rocks were already wet when i got their and the swell wasnt huge all day as u can see by the pics.. steel studded rock hoppers are definetly the go and i usually tie a rope off on the rod holder..(if it looks a little off).

the wetness i got was spray not drenched ... but fishing that spot it is always in the back of ur mind (watch the ocean always).. biggrin.gif

take it easy guys and good fishing.. ps thanks for the comments

yeah mate you been getting some nice fish out there. i know once you get some good fish from a spot you get kinda hooked, but i do recommend you go explore, even just that area. Know of some ripper fish being caught off the back side, just gotta do the hard yards.
I have fished down here off the rocks for about 8 years now and i have seen myself pushing the limits more and more when it comes to safety. i have never been in, but it seems about every 2 years i have a close call, which slows down my never say die attitude. Only just got my first PFD in the last year. its not a garantee but often i have fished till i was buggered and remember thinking, if i fell in now, fully clothed, i wouldnt be able to swim for 2 minutes, let alone to safety.
but i think everyone knows thier own experience and personal limits, i know safety is important, but sometimes you just gotta do it to know you are still alive.
